Training

Felista earned a Masters of Art in Project planning and management from University of Nairobi. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in computer science from Catholic University of Eastern Africa.

Career

Felista has accumulated extensive experience in project planning & management, monitoring & evaluations, surveys, research and analysis through her work with International non-governmental organizations. Her invaluable experience includes conducting numerous participatory research projects in northern Kenya while working under Nawiri Project, supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance. Some notable research projects she conducted include: research on local knowledge and perceptions on causes of malnutrition among the Dasanech in Kenya; a rapid participatory assessment in Illeret ward, Marsabit County, while working with CARITAS. She also worked with Catholic Relief Sevices as Research Assistant where she was involved in a participatory epidemiology study to investigate the causes and seasonality of acute malnutrition in Marsabit and Isiolo Counties, Northern Kenya as part of the Nawiri Project. Thereafter she worked as a Senior Project Officer with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) on Longitudinal study on Seasonality of child acute malnutrition and its drivers in pastoral community in Marsabit county . During her tenure with the Inter-Religious Council of Kenya (IRCK) from February 2012 to May 2013, in the role of Planning, Monitoring Evaluation, and Learning Projects Officer, she played a vital role in conducting baseline surveys of all communities residing in Marsabit County to establish the existence and causes of conflict in the region. Currently, Felista holds the position of Senior Project Officer with the Center for Research and Development in Drylands (CRDD), where she is actively involved in the implementation of the InfoRange project

Her main research interest revolves around using her experience in research and development among pastoral community that leaves an impact to the community.
