Capacity development

The realization of sustainable livelihoods in the drylands requires sustained local action by individuals and institutions that have the capacity to act in a coordinated approach.

Transfer of know-how and capacities between local and external institutions is essential to implement sustainable development solutions. Strengthened capacities of local institutions will enable local societies to be self-reliant, negotiate development outcomes and command their destiny.

Our areas of action:

  • Identify, collaborate with and strengthen the capacities of local institutions
  • Support mentorship and training of early-career professionals in research and development
  • Facilitate the exchange of capacities and cross-learning between local institutions
